Puerto Rico gets commemorative quarter today
The isla del Encanto gets the commemorative quarter treatment today as the United States Mint releases millions of quarter-dollar coins into circulation to honor the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
The coin features El Morro castle, a hibiscus flower with the inscriptions, Puerto Rico and Isla del Encanto, which means “Isle of Enchantment.”
All 50 states have already received special-issued coins, and District of Columbia along with all U.S. territories will also get their own honorary quarters.
Orders for the bags and rolls of Puerto Rico quarters may be placed at the United States Mint’s secure Web site, www.usmint.gov, or by calling 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).
